Blue Monarchs

By the thousands, azure winged flutters flying on the winds

A sea mass of blue sea glass spiraling away

Blue.

So blue.

All the shades of faded night battered out

Like weary and worn hearts spent of breath

Frosted. Drained. Forgotten. Painted alabaster true

If only to break free their agony

Wayward souls mired in sadness

Same souls left out on the wayside of life

Billowing on the bends and curves thrown at them by time

A little mermaid embittered by neglect, disappointed by the human she loved

A little mermaid embittered by neglect, disappointed by the human she loved. That's what inspired me to write this piece. Maybe there's a bit of blue monarch butterfly in every one of us sensitive to human regrets.
