The first match at the Euros for the Croatian National Team ended with a victory thanks to a wonderful goal by the little, just to say, Luka Modrić: Dejan was so happy! He knew his National Team would have achieved great things and it certainly deserved a place into the best European teams and into the best teams of the world, too; that was the reason why he couldn't wait any longer for the World Cup in 2018 in Russia.

"Two years and that's it.." he thought.

What he couldn't have imagined was how many things would have happened in just two years.

When he woke up he felt different, in a positive way. He couldn't explain to himself why, maybe during the day the matter would have popped in his mind, it was only seven in the morning and he was still half asleep.

Paying attention not to wake Anita up, he got off the bed and went out of the room. How could he still sleep in the same bed with the woman that he loved more than anything and that cheated on him, well, he didn't know. He organised the holiday to fix the mistake Anita did and he did plan it especially for his children, Elena and Josip.

He went downstairs to the ground floor where he greeted the guy who worked at the reception, his name was Ivan and he admired Dejan a lot.

"Dobro jutro mister Lovren!" Ivan said.

"Bok Ivan, how are you?"

"Everything's alright. How about you?"

Dejan just forced a smile and made his way to the coffee bar. That morning he should have gone jogging around Novalja, but he didn't feel like doing it, he simply wanted to relax in the swimming pool. After having ordered a coffee he sat down outside of the coffee bar, which had a direct view of the swimming pool.

While he was waiting for his coffee, he noticed there was already some one who was swimming and it clearly was a girl.

"I thought I was a morning person."

Dejan was curious to know who that girl could have been, so he kept his eyes peeled trying to figure it out.

"Hvala." Finally after five good minutes his coffee arrived. He drank it without sugar, bitter, the way he felt when he found out Anita had cheated on him. The disappointment was still burning, literally, and when Dejan thought about it more than he should he could feel the tears in his deep brown chocolate eyes. Even though he had to be strong, at least for his children.

While he was sipping his hot coffee, he looked at the girl as she was getting out of the pool and involuntarily stared at her. Come on, he's still a man!

Dejan had to admit that girl had a breath-taking body, curves in the right places, absolutely long hair and.. a dazzling smile? He didn't even noticed she was smiling at him and in that very moment, it hit him: it was her. Zara.

He almost choked when she waved shyly at him and fearing he was really choking, Zara ran to help him.

"All right mister Lovren?" she asked him patting his back.

"I'm.. fine, that's okay, thanks.." he said coughing.

"Are you sure?" she laughed a little bit.

What's so funny, Dejan thought.

"Yes.."

"They should hire me as a nurse.. that's why I was laughing."

Dejan hold his breathe. Did she read his mind now?

He looked her in the eyes for the first time: they were light brown, with honey-coloured shades. He probably had his mouth opened since he was lost in admiring her.

"Ehm, mister Lovren, do you need something?" Zara said, taking him back to reality.

"Sorry.. no, not for now, but thank you." The only words he could pronounce, still dazzled by her beauty.

"Okay, nema na čemu."

Dejan was willing to keep talking to her, but in that moment it looked like he wasn't able to speak. Gladly, Zara could.

"I hope to see little Elena today!"

Unfortunately for Dejan, she would have seen her and she also would got to know Josip: Dejan had organised a boat trip with Anita in the afternoon and he was already mentally preparing himself.

Fortunately, that morning he had no plans.

"Of course, I'll take her this afternoon with Josip, if it isn't a problem for you.."

"Well, that's my job, so no, there's no need to worry. Provided that he won't throw his snack up all over my clothes."

They both look at each other and started to laugh, thinking about the scenario.

"I hope not." He said still laughing.

Zara noticed his coffee was still on the table and she remembered she hadn't had breakfast, so she went to the coffee bar and ordered an apricot juice and a brioche.

"Do you mind if I sit here, mister Lovren? I haven't had breakfast yet." She murmured.

"Only if you don't call me mister Lovren, you make me feel old, I'm just 26.. okay, almost 27." He chuckled. He purposely mentioned his age, hoping she would reveal hers in some way. He would have never had the courage to ask her.

"You're right.. I will be 19 in three months."

Oh snap.

That was for sure one of an age gap. She could have been his sister, considering his brother, Davor, was almost 18.

For the third time in five minutes he gave her a look, scanning her, head to toe: he was trying to figure out if she really was 19, but the only thing he understood was that he couldn't concentrate, distracted by the fact she was wearing a bikini.

"Are you kidding me?" He let it go.

"Why would I?" Zara told him, a little embrassed.

Dejan thought what to answer, but nothing that made sense came into his mind.

Meanwhile, Zara had finished her breakfast and she stood up.

Suddenly it was hot, for Dejan.

"See you this afternoon then."

Kako? For a moment Dejan looked confused.

"When you'll bring Elena and Josip.."

"Oh yeah, right." What was happening to him?

"Vidimo se Dejan." She smiled at him and she went away.

Damn it.
