After a long journey on that god-forbid stink of a bus and a few mild to heavy headaches, I had finally reach the Wyerside County bus stop that I had honestly been relieved to reach. I swear, if I had to sit another long-winded hour in that run-down bus, I might as well walked (although I really don't want to). Anyhow, I quickly adjusted my messy white fur on my head and grabbed my luggage and backpack away to the exit of the bus station.
As soon as I stepped foot on the stone pavements outside, a tugging wind suddenly picked up which threatened to mess up both my adjusted fur again. Ignoring the strong wind, I continued on the pedestrian lane which made me suddenly thought of something.
I don't actually know where I am going.
Slightly panicking (sorry, FULL ON PANICKING), I quickly took out my phone and scrolled around Furgle Maps. It was weird, as search results weren't really showing anything about this mysterious. If the surrounding run-down buildings of seemingly emptiness and boarded-up windows weren't creepy enough, this was definitely a bit scary.
"YEOOOOOWWWWW"
I shouted like a mountain goat on Mount Tailerest as a scalding hot item practically gave me a heart attack from the back, even nearly dropping my phone onto the hard pavement. And looking back, a glance of reddish-orange fur was immediate to tell me it was a red fox.
"Whoops. Didn't think you would be that shocked."
In front of me, was a tall, red-furred fox wearing barely anything but just he's olive-green boxers and half-transparent white tank top. This guy's hair, was in an almost evil crimson mess, his pointy brown-patched ears were pretty messy . And of course, a wide, cheeky smile stretched across his half red half white face with a clearly smoking cup of hot coffee in his paws.
"What in the world is wrong with you!?" I helplessly shouted with annoyance.
"The world needed some energy, so I had to energize it. You know, coffee equals energy."
"Your puns, are the worse. Keep it, and never speak another pun ever again." I retaliated sharply.
"Gosh, you people need to humor up a bit, ya' know. Anyway, what is your name?" the foxy guy asked.
"Umm... I-it's Sky. Sky Flair." I couldn't help but cringe slightly to my last name.
"Well, Aiden Jackson, at your service," we both shook hands, my paw immediately covered by his, "So Sky, what brings you here?"
"Well..." I recollected my memories a while, "I was walking towards... Veligear High."
"Veligear High? Hmm... may I ask why you're going there?" Aiden asked curiously with narrowing eyes.
"Um... I'm not even sure..."
My memories were pretty jumbled up from the trip here, although now that I think about it, that was the most dumbest response I had ever given. *Sigh* Being stuck in a vehicle for long periods of time, and getting stuck in a reformation institution does that to you I guess, along with family problems.
About that 'reformation institution' and 'family problems' thingy... I would rather not talk about it here. Just... forget that I said anything!
Suddenly, being stuck in my messy thoughts, I noticed the orange-furred fox walking leisurely straight ahead...
"Well, are you coming or not?" exclaimed loudly by the no-shame fox.
"I'm coming, I'm coming."
And with that, I silently followed an unknown friend as he was whistling what I heard to be... Disney songs!? I feel like I'm gonna faint from this experience.
Walking, passing and turning around districts and blocks, the silence and barrenness of almost all districts we had came across or entered was pretty... weird, mysterious. And again, almost all window frames and doors were either boarded up, or walled off with grey shutters.
"Why is everything closed here?" I couldn't help but questioned as we turned into another block, yet again eerily desolate.
"Well, it's best that you don't know..."
As he spoke, his smile drooped to a bland straight line, his red eyes that was once filled with joy and excitement, rendered themselves to a blank slate. But after finishing, he quickly regained back his near-contagious high energy aura.
"Anyway, let's continue on. Veligear High should just be another block away!"
As he tried to turn the darkening conversation to a much more brighter one, I couldn't help but think of his mysterious behavior from before. What could've cause that effect on his mood though...
Best not to wander to uncertain ground, I thought to myself. Continuing on, I followed Aiden the fox with an infected positivity towards this high school named Veligear High. But still... that question floated around my head like a magnet pole...
I guess it's not only me that has secrets to keep.
~~~~~~~~~~
"And we're here! Welcome to Veligear High!" Aiden couldn't help to exclaim loudly.
After a pretty long walk (I was sweating a bit from it, and it's still spring!), we had finally reached a building that stood tall and wide, it's length stretching 3 long blocks. The exterior design was pretty sleek and modern in an exaggerating way, where even the bushes are geometry. But good try nonetheless, school board.
Slowly, we both walked up the small stairs which lead us to a half-transparent double glass door. As I tugged on it, it didn't even budge a single centimeter from its original position.
"Dammit..." I continued tugging it before Aiden cut in.
"Let me try."
And... it's still stuck, Aiden, still stuck.
"Umm... Now that's very weird... Maybe we can try the side entrance." suggested Aiden scratching his head confused.
As we walked back down the steps, and followed the pedestrian lanes, a pretty awkward silence formed between both of us with only Aiden's whistling going on.
"So... do you study here?"I asked interested.
"Me? Nah... you could already tell from my clothes that I am not much worth to even enter this school." he said self-depreciatingly with a long, deep sigh later. Too humble, man, too humble. But really, the various sewed rag patches on both his white tank top and boxer was pretty obvious, compared to the... wait.
It was pretty surprising I didn't notice this observation at all. The design, the architecture of this school with its wide glass windows and bright walls, was so contrastive with the surrounding buildings that were just... ruined. So weird...
As we turned from a corner, both my eyes were immediately fixated to what seemed to be a lengthy queue of ragged people outside a large hall-like structure. And again, this was an unusual sight, if you compared it with the total emptiness of the many streets here.
"What is going on there?" I asked a bit confused with the appeared scene.
Aiden took a quick glance towards where my head turned. Noticing what I was looking at, he had a less surprised and blank expression on his face.
