5 - Hiding the Truth

                                    

                                              
The thoughts of Jason being there in the club haunted Alexa even now. Nobody had to say that she still have an open wound on her thigh, but she couldn't seem to feel it. Everything felt so numb for her tonight.
                          
The vampire who attacked Alexa was almost killed by the time Gerald got there, but somehow Master chose to keep her alive. After making sure that she was weak, they brought her to the headquarter for some investigation.
                          
Silver chain surrounded the creature in a silver plated coffin, and a series of shifting stakes of wood were placed around her head, neck, and chest. At the top, a cup of holy water was prepared to burn her soul. The set looked vicious, but it wasn't supposed to be used for human criminals, it was made to interrogate the more powerful creatures, vampires.

                          
Only Master who was in the interrogation room, the other agents was watching behind one-sided translucent glass, including Alexa. Before Master started asking questions, he requested for the mic to be turned off, so the conversation could only be heard by the two in the room. Still, he had the voice recorder on.
                          
Although any person in the interrogation room could not look through the room behind, it seemed like the vampire never stare at Master's eyes when she was answering him. Instead, Alexa felt like the creature always looked at her, right in the eyes. That surely made her feel uncomfortable.
                          
"Hope, can you help me, please? I need to go to the bathroom."

"Oh, sure."
                          
Hope held Alexa by the waist and helped her get out from the room. As she was one step away from the door, she turned her head to the vampire to see if she was still looking at her. Absolutely, the vampire had her orbs on her and a curve of sly smirk was forming at her lips before the vampire turned to look at Master, eventually.
                          
"Alexa, are you okay?"
                          
Hope's voice seemed to wake Alexa so she nodded at him. He was like the kindest and the most caring agent The Cluster had ever had but Hope never tend to build any deep relationship with anyone. He thought that everybody was his friend he should care about.
                          
"Are you sure? I can take you home if you-"
                          
"No," Alexa cut him, "thank you, but I think I'm staying here, just like anybody else," she ended her sentence with an assuring smile, but Hope's worried expression didn't fade away.
                          
As Alexa got herself in the bathroom, she quickly punched the wall inside. She felt angry, but she didn't know why. The girl's chest heaved up and down for a minute, until she decided to wash her face and that was when she saw her reflection in the mirror.
                          
"Something is odd," she mumbled to herself.
                          
Like a stroke of lightning, suddenly she could remember the odd feeling when she was still in the club, especially when Jason was around her. She remembered that felt dizzy.

"What do you think you're doing? Are you not saving her?"
                          
"She knows what she's doing. Besides, they wont do anything to hurt her," a relaxed face was appearing when the man answered his subordinate's question. The other guy chuckled.
                          
"As if her plan was running smoothly. Do you even know that we got intruder, sir?"
                          
The man called 'sir' turned to his inferior but his face remained calm. It was the inferior's face that didn't remain calm. Instead, he lowered his head down.
                          
"What do you mean by intruder?"
                          
"I'm afraid," the man encouraged himself to look at the boss' dark orbs, "that it was your son, sir."

Alexa hopped off the passenger's seat and tried to slam the car door hard before Gerald prevented it. It was Gerald who took her to school.
                          
"Don't push it too hard, baby, you might break the car."
                          
"Since when do you have to call me 'baby' and since when do I have to attend school with a large wound on my thigh? I have rights to be upset," Alexa crossed her arm on her chest.
                          
"Master told me that Agent Hope was trying to take you home last night but you refused," Gerald was making sure that nothing was being thrown away at him by Alexa before continuing his sentence, "so I guess he was thinking that you are alright and still up for school. You know he never wants you to skip the class, right?"
                          
"Oh, come on, Ge. Why would you help him take me to school? How if I got PE class today?"
                          
Gerald shrugged his shoulder slowly, making Alexa rolled her eyes, annoyed. She pretended to stomp off to the school gates without saying any other word to Gerald.
                          
"Take care. I'll pick you up after school!"
                          
Gerald's shout was taken away by the wind when the car drove off. Alexa walked slowly, the pain in her thigh was still stinging every time she moved. After the accident, the bandage was repaired by the medical staff in the headquarter. He sews the wound and set a support on her thigh so it didn't move too hard. One thing that the staff told her was, whoever handled the wound, was an expert.
                          
Alexa made it to her class on time. She saw the cactus still standing in its usual place. Somehow the sight of it calmed her heart, right before her friend Maya rushed to her.
                          
"Alexa, what happened, why did you-"
                          
"Maya, don't touch me please, this hurts a lot."
                          
Alexa didn't kid when she said it but Maya's reaction was making her laugh. Maya was keeping her hand off of Alexa with a shocked expression, afraid that she might hurt her best friend.
                          
 "Sorry. Let me help you get to your desk."
                          
Alexa let out a chuckle when Maya's hand support her waist for another walk. She turned her head when the teacher entered the class, but something outside the class was intriguing her. She recognized the gaze and she surely had seen it few times. Right after the door was closed, Alexa immediately checked for Jason's desk.
