Chapter 1 - Who's Hunting Who, Koa

Countless stars light up the nights sky, as if they are aware of Kylene's unfamiliarity with being outside the city. Kylene finds herself stuck in the woods, patiently waiting for the dogs to make their move - an experience she has never had before. These particular dogs prefer to stay close to their source of food in the city. Due to her success in managing them, she was asked to switch from her usual duties and take on dog duty since no one else could handle these two troublemakers. The dogs' names are Brad, a typically attractive junior, and Koa, a senior who aspires to be the next generation Keanu Reeves.

Surprisingly enough, Kylene is actually enjoying her time in the 'great outdoors', as her nature lover camp hosts called it with endearing tones every time they spoke. In this new environment, Kylene joins Jac and Jill - fellow freshmen who have grown up in a small town where television has been their primary source of learning about life.

Being considered the fifth wheel doesn't bother Kylene at all because Jac and Jill have been incredibly kind and accepting despite her lack of social skills. After witnessing Jac and Jill naively accept an invitation from Brad and Koa just 30 minutes after meeting them at a campus social mixer, she decided to involve herself for their protection. She intends to find another way to catch Brad and Koa. Kylene had to wrap this dog situation up quickly tonight without Jac and Jill noticing.

Kylene had a penchant for acquiring knowledge through the medium of books. To illustrate this, when she was getting ready for her inaugural camping adventure, she turned to Google in search of camping guides. The result? She ended up purchasing three essential reads: The Pocket Guide to Camping, US Navy Seal's Survival Guide, and the highly significant How to Shit in the Woods Tenth Edition – a book that took its author over ten years to master the fine art of defecating in nature's lavatory.

Kylene attempted to convince Jac and Jill, her dear twin besties, to peruse these literary gems. Unfortunately, their attention span lasted no longer than a minute before they were once again enthralled by fantasies involving Koa and Brad – much to Kylene's dismay. Despite her pleas about avoiding this particular trip due to rumors about upperclassmen behaving like dogs (whatever that meant), Ky (as nicknamed by Jac and Jill) found herself stuck wasting time discussing guys instead of important matters.

As she waited anxiously for Jac and Jill's return from their stroll through the woods, Ky couldn't help but dread contemplating suitable places in which to relieve herself amidst nature's splendor. Suddenly, an alarming high-pitched scream pierced through the quietude - reminiscent of Jill's characteristic "I stubbed my toe" yelp but unmistakably identical to Jac's terrified cry upon encountering a spider. Ky swiftly scanned the campsite only to find Brad present; his gaze fixated on her with an inexplicable intensity.

"Hey Jac, where are you?" Ky shouted into the thick forest, paying no attention to Brad who seemed unfazed by the fact that his date was screaming somewhere in the woods. A few moments later, Koa emerged from behind a tree on the opposite side of the campfire. Ky hadn't even realized he had left camp; this lapse in her awareness would surely bother her for months to come.

"What's going on?" Koa asked as he hastily zipped up his pants and wiped his hands on his jeans. Any admiration Ky may have had for Koa's attractiveness quickly disappeared after witnessing such a disgusting display and blatant violation of 'How to Defecate in Nature: Tenth Edition's' fourth rule!

"One of the girls screamed while they were out walking," Brad responded casually.

"Hey Jill, are you out there?" Ky called out, rising from the comfortable camping chair. Since Jac didn't respond, Ky figured her best shot was to yell for Jill since they were practically inseparable. Her strategy paid off when she heard a faint shout from Jill in the distance. Acting swiftly, Ky snatched her backpack from the side of the chair and made her way towards the trail. Koa immediately trailed behind.
