01: HOW IT FEELS

19 1 2

New flames burn bright
Enough to blind,
To scorch your mind's eye.
Such an alluring glow
Had never been
So near,
So easy to reach.

It fits perfectly in your palm
And scorches your hand.
Your hand is suddenly a pyre
And so, the fire only grows.
But you welcome the inferno.

The flame has swallowed you whole:
Bones, flesh, and all.
It consumes all that you are,
All that you were.
Now, you are a part of the flame
And the flame a part of you.

From your own ashes,
You have been born anew
With heat coursing through your veins,
The burn has never felt so good.
Flames have now become
Intertwined with your anatomy.

You welcome this newfound danger.
You like the taste that lingers on your lips,
Glowing coals, white-hot flames, all that will burn your throat
And leave you with marks
To commemorate
The day you challenged Death,
Danced with Death,
Kissed Death

And felt like the sun touched your mouth.
