Chapter Seventeen

The victory party was held in some senior's apartment in the building, though apartment is an understatement. I've been hearing from around me that Wes, the senior came from a family with money who donated a lot for the school, and that his apartment is on one of the highest floors. So I guess, it's more of a penthouse than the usual apartment.

When Monica and I walked in, the party was in full swing. Most of the football players were already here, and lots of people kept coming in through the door with booze. The room was dim, making it hard to see, but with the lights, it's enough to see if the person near you.

"Let's go get a drink." We weaved our way through the crowd of people who are already drunk out of their mind, and people who are dancing in the middle of the room. Once we reached the kitchen it was barely full of people, which I was thankful for, and there was a keg and a cooler beside it. Monica grabbed a red cup and helped herself to the keg, while I jammed my hand in the cooler and grabbed myself a can of coke.

I looked up and saw Monica looking at me. She rolled her eyes playfully and took a sip from her cup. I shrugged and opened my drink as well.

Moments after, loud cheers and screams came out in from the living room. As Monica and I walked over there, I spotted Liam walking in with the other football players. He was smiling and greeting the people around him. Wes, the senior who lives in the huge penthouse, thrust a cup at him and brought him to the other side of the room. Liam gladly took it from him and downed the drink quickly and grinned.

My eyes went back to the front door, and the sight made may chest tighten and stop for a moment. Entering from the front door was Caleb by himself, but he looked good nonetheless. He was wearing jeans and he had his hands tucked in his pockets. A simple shirt and a jacket finished his look, and with the lights flashing and moving around the living room, I could still see that his hair was wet, fresh from the shower.

I didn't realize that I was staring that long because before I could even process it, he was already in front of me, a side smile playing on his lips.

"You probably should loosen up that hold on that drink of yours." He said and walked past me to into the kitchen.

Monica squeezed my arm gently. "I'll go look for Marcus."

Nodding, I said, "Just text me when you're leaving."

As Monica nodded one last time, she walked through the crowds and disappeared. Turning back, I walked back to the kitchen to find Caleb filling up his own cup from the keg, and then he crouched down but quickly stood up, a cooler in hand. I walked over to the where the chips were and popped one bag open. As I  was about to turn around and lean against the counter, I bumped into Caleb, resulting to his beer spilling all over my shirt.

As my shirt was a soaking mess and I was standing in front of him, he only had a smile on his face as he looked down at me.

"You did that on purpose." I didn't bother asking, just looking at that sly smile of his, I knew there was something behind it.
